Looking for a fun but tasty alternative to trick-or-treating this year? Maybe you’re in the mood for a fun date night idea, or simply wish to shop local and do some sweet searching on your own? Check out a gourmet chocolate shop or two. They’re great either in person or for ordering online!

According to Yelp, here are a few fan favorites worth giving a try:

1. Sinful Sweets Chocolate Company, 539 Liberty Ave., Downtown.

Just steps from Market Square in downtown Pittsburgh, Sinful Sweets features delectable treats like cookie dough fudge brownies, Peanut Butter Rice Krispie Treats and Peanut Butter S’mores, chocolate-covered jalapeños, specialty milkshakes and more. They also offer delivery, takeout, and curbside delivery, plus free shipping on all orders over $10.

2. The Fudge Farm, 1503 E. Carson St., Southside + in the Waterfront, Homestead.

Whether you’re craving handcrafted Mania Milkshakes, gourmet fudge, or a delicious Marshmallow Pop, The Fudge Farm is the place for you. Fun fact: Through a program administered by Goodwill, Learn and Earn, the Fudge Farm helps at-risk youth find employment. The Learn & Earn program’s goal is for the employer to eventually hire the kids onto a permanent position.

3. Mon Aimee Chocolat, 2101 Penn Avenue, The Strip District.

After 10 years working in the retail confectionery industry, owner Amy Rosenfeld transitioned to her own shop, introducing premium specialty and fine chocolates to the greater Pittsburgh area. Mon Aimee Chocolat has now been open for nearly 2 decades in the historic Strip District. Showcasing some of Pittsburgh’s best local handcrafted chocolatiers, as well as award-winning bean to bar craft chocolate makers, chocolatiers and manufacturers, Mon Amiee Chocolat also features chocolate from over 60 countries.

4. The Milk Shake Factory, 9 locations, including Tower at PNC Plaza, 314 Fifth Avenue, Downtown.

Since its humble beginnings as a soda shop founded by Greek immigrants in 1914, The Milk Shake Factory has grown to become Pittsburgh’s premier milkshake and chocolate destination. Using farm-fresh dairy, sourced from local farms, The Milk Shake Factory serves up handspun shakes, craft sundaes, and gourmet chocolates. Offering salted caramels and truffles, to a wide variety of chocolate barks and fresh-dipped items, you’ll find an assortment of locally made chocolates to enjoy, share, or give as gifts.

Last but not least, a weekend or day-trip to visit a certain Hershey Chocolate World in Hershey, PA might be the cure to your sweet tooth fix!
