2016 marks Pittsburgh’s 200 year anniversary! This bicentennial celebration will include events all year long. Pittsburgh was offered a charter in March of 1816 and swore in its first mayor in July.

The city is celebrating this milestone with a variety of PGH200 Events throughout the year. Below is a list of some that you won’t want to miss!

March 18: Incorporation Day

Come downtown to the City County Building for a celebration fit for all ages. The city’s time capsule opening will be a part of the agenda for the day, which will offer an insightful peak into Pittsburgh’s past.

July 8: Bicentennial Bash

Come to the Heinz History Center and get immersed in Pittsburgh’s rich history. Bring your dancing shoes and appetite -- there will be dinner and dancing!

July 9: Anniversary Celebration

Come to Point State Park as we celebrate the anniversary of the swearing in of Ebenezer Denny, Pittsburgh’s first mayor. There will be a parade, festival and fireworks to cap off the night. You will also have a chance to meet and greet some of Pittsburgh’s past mayors.

For updated event information, check out the city’s event calendar. If you visit one of these events, be sure to use the hashtag #PGH200 and share your photos.
