Living in a city like Pittsburgh is great in the summertime, due to all of the great free events that take place throughout the city. Perhaps it’s the months of being stuck inside due to the snow and ice, but summer is a great time to get out and about in Pittsburgh. As the moving dust settles from your recent move to Pittsburgh, make sure to write these free events on your calendar.

Allegheny County Summer Concert Series

Every summer Allegheny County has a list of concerts, performances, and movies throughout the county that are free to the public. In 2014 there are acts such as Macy Gray, the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, and the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre. The Downtown concerts can be found in the courtyard of the Allegheny County Courthouse. If you’re in the suburbs you can find these performances and movies at the South Park Amphitheatre, Hartwood Acres, Boyce Park, and North Park.

Cinema in the Park

A great way to end your day in the summer is by relaxing outside in the warm summer breezes watching a family favorite movie under the stars. Pittsburgh Citiparks Cinema holds movies seven days a week at a different park throughout the city starting the second week in June going all the way through to the end of August. The greatest thing about the Cinema in the Park, other than the awesome movies and the great homemade snack: they are free!
